Winter Updates for the 2025-2026 season

After a late start to the 2025-2026 winter season in the Pacific Northwest and a December atmospheric river that melted much of the early season snow pack, the winter recreation season has finally started.  Every year, Northwest Portal works with land managers, groomers and grooming coordinators to update our web and print maps with the latest information. This information is available on our interactive web map that you can access through our browser, and on GeoPDF tabloid and poster sized maps that you can buy from our website to download and print, view in your browser, or use in a GeoPDF reader such as Avenza.

Washington 2025-2026:

  • Trails on roads through the Lower Sugar Mountain Fire footprint in Chelan County are closed to all use, including snowmobiles;

  • Selected trails out of the Sand Canyon Sno-Park in Stevens County will be closed to snowmobiles. These routes are on roads that will be plowed this winter to support logging operations.

  • In Upper Kittitas County, Beeler Pass will not be groomed from the upper gate to the Cole Creek Bridge. The bridge is unsafe and there is a washout on the road. Snowmobiles can ride all the way to the Cole Creek from either side, but cannot cross the creek. In addition, there is a washout on Meadow Creek Road. The groomer will be grooming from both sides and snowmobiles can squeeze past the washout but should use caution.

  • The Blewett Pass area is open, but groomers are still clearing downed trees from the Labor Mountain Fire and damage from the atmospheric river. In addition, the Chelan County of the old Blewett Highway, often used as an ungroomed route in winter, is closed to all uses including snowmobiles until Spring 2026 because of hazards from the

  • In Whatcom County, Glacier Creek and Anderson Creek Sno-Parks are both unreachable because of washouts on the access roads. Both trail systems are technically still open to snowmobiles, but will not be groomed.

  • In addition, Washington State Sno-Parks that were closed for budgetary reasons for the 2024-2025 season remain closed this year. Skate Creek Sno-Park in Lewis County and Crawfish Sno-Park in Okanogan County are the only sno-parks serving their trail systems, so those trails will not be groomed this year. The remaining closed Sno-Parks serve trail systems that can be accessed from other Sno-Parks, so these closures do not impact groomed trails. The closed parks are Echo Valley, Bethel Ridge/Soup Creek, Crow Creek, Cloverland, Elk Heights, Fish Creek, French Cabin, Nile, Taneum, Reecer Creek, Nine Bark, and Clear Lake.

Oregon 2025-2026

  • Trails out of Edison Butte Sno-Park in Deshutes National Forest that were closed for the Little Lava Fire in 2024-2025 have reopened.

  • Part of Newberry Trail out of 10 Mile Sno-Park in Deschutes National Forest is closed for the season.
